Case Study : Inner-city Heritage Building
The upper levels of this inner-city building were heavily contaminated with asbestos debris from previous renovations. They had to be remediated to facilitate the installation of new guttering and drainage channels for adjacent properties. Vince ran the project which entailed both friable and non-friable works, undertaken while the ground level was still in use by the public.
Key Considerations:
Parts of the building were in very poor condition
Prior renovations and additions meant that it was difficult to access some areas
Redundant HVAC ducting containing Millboard had to be removed
The building is in a busy street and load-ins of materials/equipment and load-outs of waste could only happen after midnight
Heritage elements such as ornate cathedral ceilings could not be damaged
A new multi-level complex was being built immediately adjacent to the site

The works were completed over many stages and included:

The decontamination of external gutters and facades, removal of damaged
fibre cement panels.

The removal of internal ceilings to allow decontamination of the
voids and services

The removal, under friable conditions, of redundant HVAC ducting with Millboard heater banks.
