Case Studies : Processing Plant and Vehicle Service Centre
Following the Brisbane hailstorm of November 2014, Vince project managed several Major Loss claims involving storm damage to industrial buildings and their contents. Most projects ran for many months, with complex technical, operational, client management and commercial requirements.
Large industrial processing plant
The removal of hail-damaged asbestos roof and wall sheeting to a 3,000m2 warehouse, removal and disposal of all contaminated stock and decontamination of the steel structure prior to the building being re-sheeted. Ancillary asbestos remediation works, including high-risk work (at heights and in confined spaces).
Key Considerations:
The business manufactured products that were highly flammable and thus safety was paramount
There was a very high level of Business Interruption insurance cover meaning deadlines had to be met
An international client with stringent work processes and documentation requirements
There were multiple contractors working on the site, which was operational during our works
Large warehousing and vehicle service centre
The removal of hail-damaged asbestos roof and metal wall sheeting to 10,000m2 of warehouse, office and service buildings. The scope of works included the replacement of roof and wall sheeting and associated gutters and downpipes and the removal of friable Low Density Board in showrooms.
Key Considerations:
The tenant had temporarily relocated and tight liquidated damage conditions were imposed on us for any delays
The Client had commissioned us to undertake additional works, outside of the insurance claim making task sequencing and resource allocation critical
The buildings had to be brought up to Code, including for Environmental aspects (eg. lighting and ventilation)
